Walk the Showrooms Charity Walk in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity
Sunday 2nd October, saw the team putting their walking shoes on in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity.
Jay Harding, a valued member of the team was sadly diagnosed with an inoperable tumour in April. She lost her very short fight in July at the age of 49. Surprisingly, Brain Cancer is the biggest cancer killer in the under 40s. She was a fun loving slightly crazy member of our team and the gang wanted to put on an event in her memory and raise funds for this vital cause.
Up bright and early on a Sunday morning 11 of us met at the Guildford Showroom and started the 6 mile walk to our Woking Showroom at 9.30am.
A steady pace was set arriving at Woking Showroom at around 11am, a quick pit stop for Danish pastries and a refuel. The directors and their families joined the walking party for the second leg onto the Frimley Showroom. A pleasant 9 mile walk along the canal in the sunshine.
Gail and Michele led the team down the high street to the Frimley Showroom reaching the finish line just after 2pm, with 17 finishing in total including Charlie the dog!
Tea and cake where a welcome sight on our return.
The team are walking around a little gingerly today, with a few aching limbs and blisters, but all in all a very enjoyable day for a very worthy cause. Jay would have been proud of our efforts!
Sponsors continue to come in exceeding our initial £1000 target, we hope to double this, you can of course still sponsor this worthy cause here https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Michele-Brereton1
